Latest Updates:

• The Green Building Code has been adopted by Redwood City Council as per Ordinance NO. 2348 Municipal Code Search and is now meeting the acceptance criteria articulated by the Californian Energy Commission. The Green Building Code applies to all new residential and non-residential buildings and additions of 1000 square feet or more. The effective date of this ordinance is set to start on May 5, 2010 and all building permit applications submitted on or after this date should meet the new standards. 

The Building Inspection Division is responsible for four major functions within the Building, Infrastructure, and Transportation Department

• Plan review of 2,500 projects per year

• Residential plan submittal references & checklist

• Typical tenant improvement references and checklist

• Residential lighting requirements kitchen lighting requirements

• Bathroom, laundry, garage & other lighting requirements
